Make no changes to Admiral Way

The Issue

The Seattle Department of Transportation plans to remove 200 parking spaces on Admiral Way, between 44th Avenue SW and 59th Avenue SW.

This plan was conceived with no outreach to the community, no public input, little advance notice to the neighborhood, and with inadequate study, research, and analysis of traffic patterns, accidents, parking, or safety of SW Admiral Way.

The undersigned citizens of Seattle, park visitors, and residents of West Seattle petition the city to make no changes to Admiral Way between SW Lander Street and 59th Avenue SW.

We are opposed to the planned changes to Admiral Way between 44th SW and 59th SW.
For one, parking on both sides of Admiral Way is necessary, vital, and critical, in order to:

Ensure the safety of residents and visitors, including children, families, elderly and handicapped residents.
Ensure access to the public park for visitors, including families, children, elderly and handicapped visitors.
Prevent overflow parking in residential areas, from the beach recreation area and from the Alki business district.
