Growing up as a die-hard Seattle Mariners fan, I’d often be in the backyard with my best friends listening to Niehaus call the game, radio on full blast. Ball caps turned backward, Emulating the sweet swing of Ken Griffey Jr. from the left and, from the right, holding my hands and bat high above my head, trying to rope doubles like Edgar Martinez. Throwing lasers from RF to third base like Ichiro. Heading to the King Dome for Buhner buzz cuts. Those summer days are some of my favorite memories.

Now, as an adult, those dreams have evolved into witnessing our current Mariners make their first trip to the World Series and bringing a championship to Seattle for the countless fans who share this passion. A Mariners team that not only reaches and wins the Series but stays competitive for years and generations that follow.

To reach such aspirations, adding proven talent to the youthful foundation of the team is essential. One of the positions that require attention is first base, and I (we all) believe Josh Naylor is the perfect fit long term at first base for the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners have done an amazing job loading this team and the farm system with young talent. However, over the last several years they have struggled to find a consistent and effective solution at first base. There appears to be no solution in the minor leagues ready soon.
