Kevin Mather has long been a bad representation of the Seattle Mariners, from his workplace misconduct in the late 2000s where he was involved in shooting inappropriate footage of female fans (per a Seattle Times investigation). Mather has also been accused of inappropriate comments towards fellow coworkers as well as unwanted physical contact. He was also busted viewing porn on a work computer. All of these instances have been buried and covered up with financial payments to those witnesses and Mather apologized for these actions. Fast forward to early February, Mather makes two racist comments about non American ball players saying that he didn’t want to pay Japanese pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma’s interpreter anymore and that “his English suddenly got better when we told him that”. Mather also called young D.R prospect Julio Rodriguez’s English “not tremendous”. This is not the Mariners organization should be represented by, lets all stand up for what’s right and get rid of Kevin Mather. The Mariners organization is one that should be welcoming to everyone regardless of their race or ethnicity and not one that stands for racist actions and workplace harassment.
