Seattle City Council: No jobs tax!
Seattle City Council: No jobs tax!
The Issue
On Monday, the Seattle City Council is expected to vote on the proposed jobs tax. This plan would tax some businesses $500 per employee per year. The Council needs to hear from you. We know that you are busy and likely working when Council has scheduled public testimony. Please sign this petition to show City Council that you oppose this tax.
There is still no plan from the Council to reduce homelessness and very little trust that Council will spend any additional money on what works.
The Council already spends $63 million in funding for homelessness services, a 62 percent increase since 2014. And yet for all those increases, the problem keeps getting worse.
We want more people in stable, permanent housing, too. And just like everyone else in the city, we want to make sure that any money that is going toward this purpose is actually being spent on what works.
A tax on jobs is not the answer—instead, we urge the Council to take a regional approach to this regional challenge and coordinate its work with the One Table effort.
To support our businesses and keep jobs in Seattle please sign the petition!
