Allow students to have a mental health day on November 2, 2020
The Issue
Many students at Kenyon College have felt that not having a day off of academics has greatly impacted their mental health which has resulted in panic/anxiety attacks multiple times per day, having so much homework that they feel they do not have time to eat healthy and sustainable meals as well as a deteriorating sense of motivation. As students at Kenyon College, we feel there is a great need to take a day off from academics in order to clear our minds and take some time to attend to our mental wellbeing so that we can continue to thrive in the academic setting. Furthermore, with the repercussions of COVID-19 many students are feeling extremely isolated. We are hoping that President Decatur will take action in order to help the students regain control over their mental health as well as take action to provide services to improve in these areas. Thank you so much for reading and I hope that we are able to make this change as it is vital for students to be in a healthy mental state of mind.
