Snow day for SD27J on Tuesday, October 29

Snow day for SD27J on Tuesday, October 29
The Issue
Over 5 inches of snow are expected to cover the Denver-Metro area. With this, dangerous travel conditions are expected. The Denver Post states, “Serious travel issues are expected, starting on Saturday afternoon...”(Bianchi). With this, high school students, who are the “freshmen” of the driving world, are most prone to weather-related car accidents. The only way to truly prevent this is to call off school. Safety should be the number one priority of the school district. The students of 27J ask for the consideration of district staff and administration. Thank you for signing!
Update: Matt Makens of Denver’s Channel 2 states. “I’m thankful schools delayed today, but considering this is the drive at 9:30 am... I think it would have been prudent to cancel some districts’ classes today”(Makens, Facebook). A video is attached of traffic being backed up, and snow covering the highway. This is presumably his view this morning. If one of the top meteorologists of the state is endorsing snow days due to hazardous weather, then it’s clear that cancelling classes would be critical, as weather experts know best about what dangerous weather such as this can cause.
