VAR was supposed to make football better.

It hasn’t.

It has taken away the raw emotion of the game. Goals are scored — then we wait. We celebrate — then we wait. A last-minute winner goes in — and nobody knows whether they’re allowed to celebrate.

Offside by a toenail. Penalties debated for minutes. Freeze-frames. Lines. Endless replays.

Football isn’t meant to be played by robots or decided by millimetres.

Referees will make mistakes. Players make mistakes. Managers make mistakes.

That’s football.

Keep goal-line technology. Give referees better training and support.

But SCRAP VAR.

Bring back the noise.
Bring back the passion.
Bring back the spontaneity.

Stop trying to make football perfect.
