Each and everytime the Government are targeting innocent people on Family visa and legal migrants and making their path to settlement in UK very difficult rather then focusing on illegal migration.
For people on family visas, this can feel particularly harsh because they already met earlier requirements when they entered the UK. They’ve built lives, jobs, and families here. New rules can apply partway through their journey to settlement.
Retrospective or mid-journey rule changes can be disproportionate
Language level jumps (B1 → B2) may be difficult for people balancing work and family. It risks penalising compliance rather than addressing irregular migration.
There’s also a fairness issue people who entered UK under one set of expectations may suddenly face stricter rules later, which can feel like they’re being penalised despite following the system properly.
Many people function, work, and integrate into society with B1-level English. At that level, someone can:
Handle day-to-day conversations, work in many types of jobs, interact with services, schools, and communities. In fact, a large number of migrants—and even some native environments with strong regional accents—operate comfortably without what would be considered “upper-intermediate” (B2) English.
For many people on family visas, the reality is they may arrive with very basic English (A1 or A2). They are working long hours or taking care of children.
They don’t have time or money for formal classes,they are learning in an environment that isn’t always supportive.
So going from basic English to B2 (which is upper-intermediate) can feel like a big jump, especially without structured support.
I urge each and every single one of you to sign the government petition to stop this unfair law. It will destroy many lives and put unessary strain and stress on innocent family life. Please fight for justice. People should not be seperated half way through just because they can't pass B2 English language requirement.

The petition to scrap B2 level English for ILR is going very slow and the deadline for the petition is July this is not good we need to speed up the process and reach 100,000 signatures for the debate before its officially implemented at B2 level English. One person can't make it work I am trying day and night to share this petition I request people pitch in and start sharing and educating people about the B2 level English.
