The Issue

I am one of many students from Bihar who have pursued higher education from prestigious institutions across the country, dedicating years to achieving academic excellence in fields such as dentistry, engineering, and veterinary science. Despite achieving remarkable scores, we find ourselves sidelined by a pervasive reservation policy that allocates 50% of technical recruitment positions to candidates graduating from institutions within Bihar.

This policy of institutional reservation, though undoubtedly conceived with intentions to promote local schools, inadvertently disqualifies meritorious candidates like myself and many others who, despite our hard work and superior qualifications, watch opportunities slip away. We are left to question whether our dedication to achieving the highest standards of education counts for naught.

While it is important to promote local talent, the current system fails to balance the scales for deserving students coming from outside Bihar institutions. The rigid reservation quota limits the potential growth of the state’s workforce by not always selecting the most skilled individuals for critical roles. In professions as crucial as dental officers, engineers, and veterinary doctors, the focus should be on the candidates' competencies, knowledge, and skills to ensure the highest standard of public service and development.

We urge the Bihar government to reconsider this 50% institutional reservation for technical recruitments. A more balanced approach would involve evaluating all candidates on a level playing field, allowing merit and skill to guide the selection process. This not only benefits the candidates but also boosts the state's overall development.

Let us work together to create a fairer system where talent matters more than institutional origin. Sign this petition to call on the Bihar government to amend the reservation policy and ensure every hardworking, qualified individual gets a fair chance in technical recruitments. Your support is crucial in striving for a merit-based system that truly values educational achievement and capabilities of every candidate, irrespective of their alma mater. Please join me in this fight for fair opportunity.
