As fans of Scotty McCreery and American Idol, we'd like to request that Scotty watch the CNN documentary "Blackfish," which details the conditions and hardships that marine mammals encounter at SeaWorld, and cancel his March 1, 2014 appearance at SeaWorld Orlando.
As a young star, who gained international attention and fame through American Idol, many across the world look up to Scotty for his music, his values, and his role-modeling. It's important that Scotty consider the moral implications of lending SeaWorld his personal and professional support.
In fact, after viewing the documentary "Blackfish," the Barenaked Ladies cancelled their scheduled 2014 appearance at SeaWorld. Willie Nelson, Tricia Yearwood, Martina McBride, Cheap Trick, Heart, 38 Special, and REO Speedwagon have also cancelled their SeaWorld concerts. In addition, since viewing "Blackfish," Joan Jett has asked SeaWorld to stop using her music.
Scotty can join other talented musicians in sending an important message that as compassionate stewards of our planet we have a responsibility to care about the harm and pain that we inflict on other living creatures.
Please join us in asking Scotty McCreery to cancel his March 1, 2014 concert at SeaWorld Orlando.
