Dear Scottsdale Residents,

The Scottsdale Gallery Association and the Stagebrush Theater are reaching out to the residents and business owners of Scottsdale to support the proposed Museum Square. It would replace an empty piece of city land with nothing on it other than a defunct and abandoned transit station. It’s located near Scottsdale Road and Osborn. We believe Museum Square will be an important element in improving the southern part of downtown Scottsdale and will help boost Main Street, where many of our galleries are located. We are excited to welcome it into our neighborhood!

Old Town Scottsdale is home to world class galleries, museums and businesses. These galleries result in thousands of collectors and tourists visiting the area. Unfortunately, when they come to visit, there are limited upscale hotels in close proximity to Old Town Scottsdale. The high-end environment with new upscale hotels that Museum Square is proposing is exactly what the area needs most. Museum Square will provide a new community space and special events area. Museum Square has also been working with the Stagebrush Theatre with respect to potential improvements associated with the Theatre building. Project heights are no taller than what are approved nearby at the HonorHealth Campus and elsewhere in downtown Scottsdale.

Importantly, Museum Square will pay about $28 million to the City of Scottsdale. These are new revenues the city needs for crumbling infrastructure, police and fire protection and potentially an expansion of the adjacent Museum of the West, a Smithsonian affiliate. This is great news since the money will come from the private sector not taxpayers!  

We are excited for the potential of Museum Square and applaud the Scottsdale City Council for its unanimous support to get the project this far. And we appreciate additional support from the Scottsdale Firefighter’s Association, many other galleries, nearby theater groups and small businesses.
