There are many trees being chopped down to clear the way for palm oil plantations. This palm oil grown on the deforested ground is then put in products that we buy, thus funding the entire operation. Palm oil is by far the most sustainable oil as each fruit contains more oil than any other. So its not palm oil that's the issue. Its where its grown. These are some  reasons why deforesting is unethical and so bad for our planet:

• Many creatures are dying due to loss of habitat and food. To put this into perspective there were around 315000 orangutans in 1990 there were only 50000 in 2018.
• The rainforests are massive carbon sinks. With them being destroyed every day for palm oil, an awful lot of CO2 is being released into the atmosphere. In Indonesia deforestation is responsible for 80% of the country's CO2 emissions. 
• There are people who live in these Rainforests who lose their homes and their livelihoods because of deforestation.

Lots of people are trying their best to stay clear of non sustainable palm oil products but its hard as only17% of products don't use palm oil. This is why I'd like to push UK governments to ban the sale of Non sustainable palm oil products in the UK. This will hopefully persuade these companies to try and be more sustainable which would make a big difference. Please help by signing and sharing this petition so hopefully we can make a Difference!
