Rescind Scott Harrison's extradition order to Spain

The Issue

This petition has been started to spread the word about the unjust extradition of Scott Harrison, Scotland's most successful boxer and the two-time WBO world featherweight champion. In May 2015 the ruling was made in Edinburgh Sheriff Court that Scott would be extradited to Spain to serve a four-year prison sentence for assault charges in Spain from May 2007. Scott was in the wrong place at the wrong time, acted only in self-defence and maintains his innocence. Scott also suffered vicious, unprovoked attacks by the Spanish officers while in custody - including a brutal assault by several officers with batons. Despite cooperating fully with the Spanish authorities during the course of their investigation, it was not until 2012 that Scott was sentenced. During that time, Scott was released on bail and had his passport returned after a few months so he could fly back to the UK. Scott willingly attended the trial in Spain in 2012 the week after boxing in the SECC in Glasgow. Scott also received no correspondence from the Spanish authorities regarding his case until Scottish police officers arrested him in Glasgow under a European Arrest Warrant in August 2014. Since then Scott has had his life turned upside down. Scott is unable to box to earn money for his family and four young children as the British Boxing Board of Control will not reinstate his boxer's licence due to the ongoing legal case. Scott is currently on bail pending an appeal to the High Court to have his extradition order rescinded. Please sign the petition to show that you believe we in Scotland and the United Kingdom should be looking after one of our own and not turning a blind eye while one of us is condemned at the hands of a corrupt legal system in a foreign country for a crime he did not commit.
