Petition Seeks To Force Debate on Scottish Independence at Westminster

A petition seeking to have a debate on Scottish Independence referendum at westminster has been launched and accepted by Westminster. It is now open for signatures. The petition which cites the brexit vote and requests Westminster devolve powers for a referendum under a section 30 order (like the edinburgh agreement in 2014) is now collecting signatures. At 10000 signatures, a formal response from Westminster must happen in writing. At 100,000 a debate will be called in Westminster. The petition, if successful at hiting the 100,000 signature goal will test the water with Westminster in the public eye, either showing if MP's practice what they preach, either them allowing a second referendum or standing against it. Either way we'll see if they practice democracy or only claim to practice it. At the very least the debate will allow the large contingent of pro-indy MP's to debate Scottish Independence and also the consequencies of Brexit on Scotland. Because it is a Westminster petition, the 100,000 signatures don't have to be Scottish, they only have to be from UK Citizens, so anyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland can sign it as well (great if your Scottish living elsewhere or if you have family elsewhere in the UK).
