We have May as PM We have Hammond (pro-austerity) as chancellor. We have Boris (god help us) as Foreign Secretary. The petition is calling for a section 30 order, which is for the powers to hold an official second referendum to be devolved to Scotland to hold that referendum. 2. If westminster say yes then we have that referendum at a time and choosing of the Scottish Parliament. 3. If westminster say no then we have a poll anyway which is then enforceable through the international courts - ironically the precedent is Brexit itself. But at the same time Westminster will be shown as the undemocratic "you know whats" that they are. 4. The debate to be had is not just about powers for holding a referendum. It gets our 56 mp's in Westminster a full on debate at westminster to pull down and scream about every single lie Westminster has engaged in since 2014. It allows them to whiplash the UK government on the fact that every promise they made was a lie - which they will do in Westminster on tv infront of the public! 5.
