Lucy Cole started this petition to Scottish Government

Every year we deliberately inflict cruelty on animals and those suffering with PTSD by allowing individuals to use fireworks. This is an English tradition to celebrate the overthrow of Guy Fawkes in his attempt to blow up the houses of Parliament. It has nothing to do with Scotland and thousands of animals and humans have to suffer needlessly for so called entertainment. This needs to stop. It is cruel and ridiculous that we continue this tradition. I am asking that the Scottish government please bring in stricter laws to either have silent fireworks only or only for organised displays. We say we care about our fellow humans and our animals yet we carry on a tradition which is causing needless suffering. How can we say we are a humane caring and compassionate society when we deliberately allow and cause thousands and thousands  of animals and war veterans to suffer every year just because the UK government want to make an example of an individual who tried for whatever reason to overthrow it.
