HI All
We hope you are keeping safe and well. This is a big week for the Scottish wildcat. This Friday, the 31st July, is the deadline for the Scottish Government to formally respond to the complaint we lodged with the Bern Convention. Over the past few months we have shown you clear evidence of government agencies actively logging vital wildcat habitat and plan to install another windfarm in the Clashindarroch forest.
For the first time in history, the government will be held to account by an independent, international body over its performance in conserving the wildcat and so can’t use its own internal complaints procedures to avoid the issues or simply not respond at all. These tactics have been only too often used in the past.
We genuinely hope that the government responds honestly, admits where mistakes have been made and most crucially of all, makes a firm commitment to protect the Clashindarroch and its priceless wildcats, as well as the other remaining places where the Scottish wildcat still survives.
Next year Scotland will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and so we hope they see this as an opportunity to step up and save what is arguably Scotland’s most iconic animal as well as it’s forest home.
Rest assured as soon as we get sight of the Government response to the Bern Convention, we will update you immediately and our team of biologists, lawyers and ecologists stand ready to review their response.

These are crucial times for the wildcat so we fully appreciate your ongoing support.
All the best
