Dumfries and Galloway is being scarred by overdevelopment from windfarms. These windfarms, if granted by the Scottish Government would see Dumfries and Galloway irreversibly damaged.  The energy giants seek to bribe local communities with promise of funds for community projects to distract their gaze from the ugly truth. They neglect the needs and opinions of rural communities and plough ever closer to their intentions regardless of the devastating effect on wildlife, biodiversity, housing market, tourism, rural power and water sources and peoples health and mental health. 

The southwest of Scotland is abundant in stunning scenery and serenity and offers history, activity, agriculture, dark skies, incredible biodiversity and much much more! Dumfries and Galloway is looking to protect and conserve its green spaces and attract much needed tourism to the area. 

The 'Shinnelhead Project' is a nature conservation project which would see the protection from development from windfarms and seek to preserve nature at its finest in this area. We need your help to stop the development of the Sanquhar II and Euchanhead windfarms which would see over 70 230m tip high turbines destroy this immediate area.

Dark skies would be lost to overreaching light pollution from the turbines, peat land and woodlands destroyed and in turn destroying habitat for the local wildlife which in this area is in abundance. Thousands of birds will be killed by the huge rotating blades and habitat lost. Wildlife will be lost!

The turbines cost is not as 'cost effective' to the consumer as they would be led to believe not to mention the thousands upon thousands of tonnes of peat which will be removed and replaced by concrete substructures. The cost of copper cabling is staggering not to mention the carbon footprint in sourcing materials for this. Turbines are currently not recyclable and are being dumped in enormous landfills once they reach their end use.

The energy giants would not publicise that they are paid eye watering sums to switch off the turbines when energy generation is too unpredictable. Energy may be imported from abroad to sustain the requirement but when energy is imported it is not required by law to be reported therefore as long as the turbines are off and the energy comes from elsewhere there is a false advertising as to the true effectiveness of these machines and the truthfulness of 'carbon reduction'. These are just a few examples of what you're not told and to say these are the best solution for renewable energy and reaching carbon zero is total fabrication to shield truth from people effected by them and ensure the money keeps rolling into the pockets of the energy giants.

We want more investigations carried out into the effects of infrasound on health and safe distances from turbines to residential properties. With this petition we would seek further investigation from the Scottish Government. 

It is the aim of energy giants to make the Southwest of Scotland an energy hub and this is without the consent of the residents! 

We at Shinnelhead look to protect our green spaces in Dumfries and Galloway. We look to petition our local government to stop Euchanhead and Sanquhar II projects and stop the over development of the Southwest of Scotland. We want our heritage and countryside back!
