If a motorist falls foul of the speeding law in England or Wales, they will be offered a place on a speed awareness course.

If a motorist falls foul of the same law in Scotland, they will receive at least 3 penalty points and a £100 fixed penalty fine.

I believe that road traffic law should focus on educating motorists and promoting road safety. The current Scottish system treats motorists as cash cows and needlessly punishes those who make simple mistakes with stealth taxes.

I believe this is wrong.

Considering the positives that speed awareness courses offer, I, along with the undersigned, urge the Scottish Government to bring such courses to Scotland.
