Dog theft is rising, and families are being left heart broken. They are not just dogs they are much loved members of our families and communities who, when stolen can be used for breeding or dog fights.
Every day we are hearing about more pets being stolen and people being assaulted in the process trying to protect them. People are now frightened to go out walking for fear of losing their family pet.
Scotland is Beautiful, and we, and our dogs should be able to enjoy it. We are living in fear of returning home without our Dog who should be protected under The Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 ( 17 1 a). It is now 2021.
What is the deterrent? In short there is not one. Government legislation states microchipping would be a deterrent to dog theft. It is not. We need a tough deterrent, and we need it Now!
