After running into a recently released registered sex offender Tier 2 who assaulted my child in 2009 at the age of five years old it has came to our attention that it is in fact legal for a registered sex offender in South Carolina to work in an environment where children are frequent guests (ie:petting zoo's, farms, ranches, carnivals, theme parks, etc.) As long as the employer is okay with it the offender is in no way breaking the law. There is no law that states that the employer must notify the guests of offenders being on the premises with your children either. In the statutes of the sex offender registry it states that an offender can't live within 1000 feet of a school, park, or place where children are present but it does not state that an offender can't work with them. We must stand up and speak out! My daughter wants to see to it that not one more sex offender can be allowed to do this and until the day that I die, I will push to make this happen at whatever costs. She states "I did not go through what I went through and speak up and speak out to put this man in prison for him to be allowed to work with children!"

We must see to it that this is dealt with immediately for the safety of our children. This impacts every single person in our state and we must do something about it NOW! Please help us in a movement to fix this situation by signing this petition. A sex offender legally can't reside near dwellings that children are frequently at but they are allowed to work with children? This is not right!
