Problem
Moving the Australian embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is set to increase tensions in an already unstable area, placing inncoent and vunerable Palestinian lives in even greater danger. Australian policy is not to recognise Israel's control of territory seized in war under various United Nations resolutions, notably Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338. Moving away from this policy would be a step backwards for our countries culture of acceptance of people from all backgrounds and religions. Risking human life and wellbeing for the sake of short term political gain is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

Solution

This issue can be avoided if the Australian embassy remains in Tel Aviv.
