Decision-makers in NSW, Australia have decided to proceed with Sydney's 2019/2020 New Years' Eve fireworks celebrations despite a well-supported petition against the fireworks and an on-going bushfire crisis in Eastern Australia which is costing lives, and impacting horrible environmental and property damage.

These decision-makers include the authority for allowing the Sydney fireworks in spite of the Total Fire Ban applicable today in NSW, the NSW State Premier and Lord Mayor of Sydney. One of their key arguments for proceeding is that the event has been planned for over one year, and the majority of the money has been spent or committed. This demonstrates they are placing strange interests ahead of national solidarity, and that they are INCOMPETENT to hold their current positions because of a failure to read the gravity of the situation and the pulse of the nation.

Sign this petition if you agree that the fireworks should be banned immediately, and in the event that the fireworks are not banned, then the decision-makers including but not limited to those mentioned should be removed from office by the weight of popular opinion, or alternatively by authority of the Prime Minister of Australia (if he has this authority, or the courage to act) and face appropriate consequences.
