My aim is to get the Australian Government to raise the legal drinking age for young Australians to 21.

Australia has consistently shown time and time again that it has a serious problem with underage drinking, binge drinking and a culture that encourages and glamourises drinking at dangerous levels. 

I believe that raising the legal drinking age will make it harder for young people to obtain alcohol underage.

*Young Australia can receive their driver's licence and legally buy alcohol on the same day as they turn 18.

*The adolescent brain is not fully developed at age 18, taking years into their 20s to be fully developed, therefore not able to fully make reasonable, mature decisions.

*Drinking alcohol at an early age makes people more prone to having alcohol addiction issues until they're much older, sometimes for life.

*Alcohol use can lead onto dabbling in drugs at an early age.

*When under the influence young people take irresponsible risks such as drink driving, drug taking and risky behaviour.
