Emily J started this petition to Scott Morrison (Federal Member for Cook) and

Bread.
It’s a wonderful thing, bread. A stable in our culture, an essential, part of the dynamic duo bread and milk. Bread has been with us, through thick (crust) and thin, many of us starting our mornings with a nice crispy slice of toast. I know bread can seem bland, but it really isn’t. Rye, brown, sourdough, baguettes, wholemeal, flatbread, even damper just to name a few. And don’t forget the infinite uses of breadcrumbs. Sure, there are so many other foods you can eat; but nothing matches the golden wheat-y soft goodness of a fresh slice of bread straight out of the oven. The whole lengthy process to get from sowing the wheat in the fields to this tasty morsel on your plate is a whole lot for it to just be ungratefully eaten, even begrudgingly eaten is a shame really. We have so many other days to celebrate much more mundane things, and yet we don’t have a National Bead Day here down under. So why not sign this petition to truly appreciate bread for the staple that it is, impacting the lives of millions of Australians every day?

So let’s make a toast to bread this 3rd of July, and take a nice big slice. I hope we can officiallycelebrate a wonderful wheat-y day this July.

Cheers to bread, the staple of a nation!
