GENOCIDE ALERT!! CIVIL WAR GENOCIDE ALERT – ENGLISH SPEAKING TERRITORY OF CAMEROON
The issue
WE APPEAL TO PM SCOTT MORRISON TO HELP SAVE LIVES OF THE MINORITY ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE OF THE FORMER BRITISH SOUTHERN CAMEROONS
May 2021 – Rockhampton, Australia: “Help me! Help me!...Everyday my people are being killed...I will have no family left in Cameroon…Please help me”, Lilian - a woman from the minority English-speaking Cameroon begged PM Morrison – wailing on her knees recently at the Beef Australia Expo. “I have lost eight people in my family, the youngest of them killed was 22-years-old!...”
October 2016 – Cameroon, Africa: Faced with the eradication of their very way of life; the Anglo-Saxon system of education and English Common law; an English-speaking minority of teachers, students and lawyers led a peaceful protest demanding reforms only to be met with lethal force by government security forces.
“MOST NEGLECTED AND UNDER-REPORTED CONFLICT IN THE WORLD!”
The Norwegian Refugee Council has reported that this is the most neglected and under-reported conflict in the world with a dire humanitarian situation. The Human Rights Watch and other independent organisations have reported that this on-going conflict has claimed lives estimated at more than 3000 people, with more than 1 million internally displaced persons, and caused more than 600 000 refugees fleeing the conflict into neighbouring Nigeria and across the world.
“CONSTANT FEAR, TRAUMA AND UNCERTAINTY”
The voice and cry of Lilian represent every English-speaking Cameroonian living in the diaspora, especially Australia. “Human rights atrocities have become the horrifying norm for our community - a disastrous impact of fear, trauma, uncertainty and underrepresentation.
Every day, our community relives the brutality of this conflict. We face internal and external threats from the Cameroon government. Our safety is not assured, and our plight has gone undetected for far too long.”
Recently, Australian resident Dr. Awoh Emmanuel Lokoko left Australia to attend his late father’s funeral. On arriving at Nsimalen airport in Yaounde, Cameroon, he was promptly thrown into jail, leaving behind a young wife and baby here in Australia to fend for themselves.
“UNBEARABLE DISTRESS”
“As proud, strong Australian-Southern Cameroons, we are incredibly grateful to be living in the safe, free environs of Australia, however - the constant threat to our families back in Cameroon is destructive to both our wellbeing and our livelihoods. In this regard, we are calling on the Australian Government to intervene and assist to bring a resolution to our plight.”
“OUR PEOPLE ARE DYING DAILY!”
As the Southern Cameroons Community in Australia represented by the Southern Cameroons Association Australia Inc (SCAAA), we urge you to sign this petition to encourage PM Morrison and the Australian government to intervene, help save lives and protect the minority English-speaking people of the former British Southern Cameroons being killed daily and fleeing from civil war. Few Australians know of our genocide – your signature can help save a life!
