Millions of Animals burned alive, dying of heat, water shortages and smoke inhalation.

Bushfires raging across Australia have decimated 14.6 million acres since September.

The bushfires have killed an estimated half a billion mammals, reptiles and birds some species such as the Koala, which is already endangered.

Over a quarter of potential Koala habitat areas on the east coast of NSW have been burnt since July 2019.

Koalas only live in Australia, and rely on eucalyptus trees to survive. But eucalyptus trees, the koalas’ only food source are being destroyed at an alarming rate.

Australia is a global deforestation hotspot. Combine this with what was lost to the devastating bushfires, and we need to urgently restore more than 12.6 million hectares of forest and bushland.

WWF-Australia and Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) are on a mission to defend the remaining pockets of unburnt forests in six landscapes across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria that urgently need protection now.
