Friends, Priya and Nades’ courage, optimism and determination to keep their little girls safe never ceases to inspire me. I saw it last night, when they shared their family’s story with hundreds of thousands of Australians, in their own words.
If you missed Australian Story last night, you can watch the full episode on YouTube now.
If you’ve already called your MP’s team today - thank you! If your MP isn’t part of the government, please tap here to give your government Senators a call.
It was only after six government MPs - including current Acting Prime Minister, Barnaby Joyce - broke ranks to join the call to bring Priya, Nades, Kopi and Tharni home to Bilo that we got this family off Christmas Island.
Now, I’m hearing that there are more government MPs and Senators who agree - but we need to give them courage to make a difference by speaking up publicly.
Under Australian law, one signature from one Minister can bring this family home to Biloela with the stroke of a pen.
Today, if you too are inspired by this family’s courage, please make that respectful call to your government MP or government Senators now.
With hope,
Angela
PS I also wanted to share these beautiful words from Nades, who told Australian Story how he has comforted his beautiful little girls, Tharni and Kopi, during their three and half year ordeal.
They share their thoughts with us in a lullaby:
"Dad, why are we like this? Why are we here?"
I say: "It's only for a short time. We'll go back to Biloela, just as you dream."
My life is there. My spirit is in Biloela!
