Friends, I’ll keep this short. I’m on my way from Biloela to Perth to see Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa right now.
All of your calls and e-mails have helped re-unite this family on the mainland, but as soon as Tharni is better, Minister Alex Hawke STILL plans to continue her family’s 1200 days of detention, this time in a Perth suburb.
The most important thing you can do today is tap this link to join a peaceful, family-friendly #hometobilo event this Saturday 19th June - let’s show Mr Hawke that we want this family home in Biloela as soon as Tharni is well.
In the 1,200 days since they were snatched from the Queensland home at dawn, I’ve always known deep down that this family won’t be safe until their boots are on the ground, back in Biloela.
But the way certain politicians have gone on the attack in the last 24 hours has convinced me that Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa are still in grave danger. I knew I needed to get on a plane to Perth as soon as I could.
I know I’m always asking for your help. But the second most important thing you can do today is to invite YOUR friends and family to join in this Saturday, by tapping the ‘Invite’ button in one of these family-friendly events and forwarding this e-mail to as many like-minded people as you can.
It’s been a long two weeks and I don’t know what else to say other than “thank you” for everything you are doing.
Together, we got this family off Christmas Island. And together, we are going to get them #hometobilo.
With hope,
Angela
PS Facts and truth are important and we’ve heard a lot of talk about misreporting and inaccuracy in the last 24 hours. That’s why I wanted to share the facts about this family and the dangers Tamil people face in Sri Lanka and show you just how many times government MPs and Senators have falsely claimed that there are no children in detention in the 1200 days since Kopi and Tharni were first detained.
