Friends, there were smiles all round when dear family friend Vashini (with her beautiful bub!) and I were re-united with Priya, Nades and the girls in Perth last night.

After everything that’s happened since Tharni was medically evacuated from Christmas Island two weeks ago, the words ‘thank you’ no longer seem big enough to express how we all feel about the way you all keep showing up this family time and time again.

Today, can you tap here to find a family-friendly #hometobilo event near you tomorrow - then tap the ‘invite’ button to invite like-minded friends and family?

I am especially looking forward to seeing and speaking to Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa's WA supporters in Forrest Place at 2pm (WA time) tomorrow.

I know Priya and Nades’ stories and I know the danger this family is facing is real.

In the words of 26 Christian leaders who have signed an open letter to Mr Hawke and other Parliamentarians in the Queensland press today:

“Forcibly returning Nades and Priya to Sri Lanka was, and remains, an unsafe option, as abduction, torture, unlawful detention and sexual violence of Tamils at the hands of Sri Lankan security forces continue to be reported.”

With Immigration Minister Hawke still refusing to rule out forcing Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa from Australia to danger, we still have a long way to go to get this family safely home to Bilo.

But tomorrow, let’s make the events we’re holding around the country as much a celebration of love and friendship as a sign to the politicians that we will never give up on this family.

With hope,

Angela
