Friends, it was such a relief to see Nades and Kopika touch down in Perth on the news last night, knowing that they would soon be re-united with Priya and Tharnicaa.

But with Immigration Minister Alex Hawke now saying it could be “months” before he reaches a final decision, it looks like we still have a battle ahead of us.

That’s why I’m asking you to let me know you’ll join one of these family-friendly events this Saturday 19th June, by tapping the links below:

On Saturday, we’ll to say ‘thank you’ to the healthcare workers looking after Tharni and insist that all government MPs and Senators break their silence and join Ken O’Dowd, Barnaby Joyce, Trent Zimmerman, Jason Falinski, Dr Katie Allen and Bridget Archer in calling for Minister Hawke to allow Priya, Nades the girls to come home to Biloela where they are welcome, wanted and needed.

I can’t thank the people of Perth enough for all of their support, especially the many wonderful Tamil people waiting at the airport to welcome Nades and Kopika back to the mainland with big smiles and colourful balloons.

Let’s make these events just as colourful, positive and welcoming. Please bring your own hand-made cockatoo signs and messages of hope and love for Priya, Nades and the girls.

Lastly, I want to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who has signed this petition.

Your phone calls, letters and e-mails got this family off Christmas Island. And together, we’re going to get Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa home to Biloela, where they belong.

With hope,

Angela
