horse racing should be banned because it is cruel, did you know that 25.000 race horses die every year! and to make things worse the horses are treated badly, they are wiped and zapped with tasers. if a horse falls over in a race the jockey can get badly injured and the horse will most likely get shot. if horses are un-fit, not competitive or have something wrong with them they are culled in large quantities before they even reach the track.   horses are herd animals, so they like company, but in the racing industry they are kept isolated in small areas, witch is very bad for their mental health.  its not just the horses that are disadvantaged, around 80,000 to 160,000 Australian adults have gambling problems, and 975.000  Australian people gamble per month and 52% of that is betting on horses. the horses start to race at the age of 2, this is bad for the skeletal system (skeleton) because the bones haven't formed properly and the weight of the jockey can cause health problems that are then made worse by running on a hard track. if a horse is sick or tired and not able to race at its best, drugs are used to enhance performance. so what would happen if horse racing is banned? well the horses would go to rescue and rehabilitation organisations to be re-homed like save a horse Australia, or to be visited like at living legends.  so, please sign this petition to help ban horse racing, every signature counts!!
