Allow ANZAC Day services to go ahead 2021

I received an email from RSL Queensland today declaring that ANZAC Day services would once again be cancelled this year and in turn replaced with the same format as last year “Stand at Dawn” Driveway service.
The reason for this decision has been widely addressed as a way of protecting our older veterans from possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
As a veteran, I find this excuse unacceptable. We are not on lockdown, nor are we confined to our premises as we were in 2020. These same elderly veterans are well within their own right to make an informed decision on their own as to whether or not to march. This is the same right they have to attend the AFL Grand Final, International Cricket matches, the Australian Open or any other sporting event where they are placed in close contact with tens of thousands of possible carriers of the COVID-19 virus. The only real difference I can see is that the government has no financial gain from the conduct of ANZAC Day services unlike those of sporting events.
Shame on you for removing the civil liberties that these men and women fought so hard to protect and deserve recognition for.
Please review your decision to cancel these events and allow them to be conducted with “Social Distancing” and wearing of masks if required.
Proud to have served.
