The laws defining rape and sexual assault in Oklahoma need amended to fix broken loopholes that the guilty take advantage of to receive a lesser sentence. Because the laws do not mention that if the victim of rape is intoxicated or unconscious, the guilty can use these unethical technicalities to stop the prosecution. I'm a native Oklahoman and the family member of someone who has gone through a traumatic event like this. The ruling will not just decide the attacker's punishment, but also how the victim and their families find closure. These laws reflect our attitudes regarding these circumstances, and amending them will show our resolve to stop this from happening again. This policy is so close to being amended but the Defense attorneys have hired lobbyists to stop this bill from being reformed
