Immediate removal of F. King Alexander & Joe Alleva from leadership positions at LSU

Immediate removal of F. King Alexander & Joe Alleva from leadership positions at LSU
The Issue
To whom it may concern:
I dearly love Louisiana State University, my alma mater. It is with that love and passion driving me that I call for the immediate resignation and/or termination of F. King Alexander as LSU System President and Joe Alleva as Athletics Director.
I want an LSU President and Athletics Director that cherish and care about LSU ... our academics, our athletics, our brand, our reputation, our students, our athletes, our professors, our alumni, our campus, our traditions, our pageantry, our buildings, our history ... and most importantly: our future. I expect our President and AD to care about all of these things and to work endlessly in making every area of LSU better. F. King Alexander and Joe Alleva have failed in their leadership roles and embarrassed our university on a national scale in recent years, both academically and athletically. Because of their failures, F. King Alexander and Joe Alleva must be terminated.
F. King Alexander proactively launched a campaign to our state and to the nation that our university was effectively "going out of business." Despite thousands of academic institutions around the country facing budget issues and potential fiscal cuts on a daily basis and working through those issues, F. King Alexander decided that LSU's budget talks should be politicized and aired publicly, and proceeded to embarrass this great university on a national stage. His desire for a quick-fix and his desire to entrench himself in politics clearly outweighed his required love for LSU. We have all suffered as a consequence, and when F. King Alexander is long gone from LSU, our students, professors, alumni, and supporters will still have to deal with the ongoing ramifications and embarrassment of his short-sighted actions.
On the athletic side, F. King Alexander and Joe Alleva overruled progress and a step forward for the LSU football program in November 2015 because it did not fit the narrative of LSU "going out of business." LSU football plays a vital and well-established role in the University as a whole, and F. King Alexander allowed politics and academic finance to determine the future of LSU football. I expect LSU's President to possess the intellectual capacity needed to clearly explain to the public and elected officials that LSU athletics does not get one cent from the University and academic side. I expect LSU's President to be able to precisely clarify to the public that LSU athletics actually pumps money into the University and academic side. I expect LSU's President to be able to accurately inform the public that LSU athletics is financially independent from the University. I expect the LSU AD to possess the leadership and interpersonal skills required to make changes and move our athletic department forward when necessary. These are not unreasonable expectations that I have for LSU's President and AD, yet F. King Alexander and Joe Alleva have failed to meet those expectations.
LSU has a proud past and bright future, but that future will never be fully realized while F. King Alexander is President and Joe Alleva is Athletics Director. F. King Alexander and Joe Alleva have embarrassed our University academically, financially, athletically and therefore must be removed from their leadership roles. I call on the Board of Supervisors to remove both of them immediately so that LSU can assess the damage done to our great brand and allow LSU to move forward into a bright future under new leadership.
