ScoMo: Protect Trans & Intersex Students In Your Sex Discrimination Act Amendments
Why this petition matters

After the Citipointe College story broke (read it here), the Australian Government agreed to amend the Sex Discrimination Act to protect queer students from expulsion. This was a response to the outrage the Religious Discrimination Act is creating and the discrimination it would allow.
However, it has been revealed this morning the amendment will not protect trans students and allow for the discrimination on the basis of gender identity. This not only unfairly targets trans students, but intersex students as well.
According to https://www.lgbtiqhealth.org.au/statistics:
Compared to the general population:
Transgender people aged 14-25 are fifteen times more likely to attempt suicide
People with an intersex variation aged 16 and over are nearly six times more likely to attempt suicide
Transgender people aged 14 to 25 are five and a half times more likely to be diagnosed with anxiety in their lifetime
35% of transgender[9] people aged 18 and over reported that they had attempted suicide in their lifetime[x]
The Religious Discrimination Bill exists to appease churches after the same sex marriage vote, and to keep Scomo's religious friends happy at the expense of young lives. And it needs to go ASAP.
If it must go through, at least amend the Sex Discrimination legislation to protect trans lives. No life is worth more than another's.
