Recently, Principal Williams went on record with Georgetown News-Graphic to help clarify the dress code situation. To preface her comments, she stated, "There are no changes to the dress code, but it's about clarification to make sure everyone is on the same page as far as expectations for our dress code." In the previous dress code, it was expressed that shorts needed to be longer than the finger tip. Now, although she stated that there were no changes, she backtracked herself, and in the article stated, "As a general rule, shorts and skirts should be no longer than fingertip length." These two statements are polar opposites, as one is below the finger tip, and one is shorter than the finger tip. She also stated, "[SCHS] has now better clarified its dress code to inform students on what is acceptable length for shorts for female students to wear," completely failing to address the male population. Later in the article, Meocha Williams states, "...our motto here is about being passionate, engaged, and the best version of yourself." This leaves a large portion of the readers baffled, and wondering, "How can you be the best version of yourself when the school administration is directly impeding on students' rights to free speech and religion, comfort, and in some circumstances education. The article (thoughts expressed by Renee Holmes) that "The law spells out the duties and responsibilities over which SBDM Councils have authority, but each council constructs their own policies and by-laws within legal parameter." According to the Kentucky Department of Education, "The council has the responsibility to set school policy and make decisions outlined in [written law], which should provide an environment to enhance student achievement. The policies should assist in meeting the goals established in KRS 158.654 and KRS 158.6451." One of these goals should be "core values and qualities of good character;" regulating religion and expressing how women's clothes should be stricter than men's, I believe, are not qualities of good character.

*Unrelated to Above Article:* The option to relieve Principal Williams of her duties is listed as a last ditch effort in the event that the school dress code is to not be changed. KRS 161.790 states, "The contract of a teacher shall remain in force during good behavior and efficient and competent competent service by the teacher and shall not be terminated except for any of the following reason... Immoral character or conduct unbecoming a teacher."
