Im 7th grader at St Louis Park Middle School. My name is Derick. My petition is protesting gun violence/School Shootings. I feel Like gun violence is getting out of control each week on the news. There's some type of shooting if it's like a mall shooting, School shooting, Store etc. Gun violence needs to be stopped. They need to Fix some laws with buying guns because right now people aren't using it for the right cause. I feel like it's a problem in our society because Young children are dying for no reason because of someone else because they have a mental issue or want revenge in some type of way. I first learned about this when The parkland high school shooting happened in 2018. I got interested and learned that this was a big problem when the Parkland high school shooting happened in 2018 a 19 year old went into a school and killed over 10 people and injured over 12 and that made me interested because I wanted to know why people would hurt other people for no reason. It is starting to happen more and more and now there's been some type of shooting every week. So I'm starting to get worried. You could imagine how it's going to be later in the year. People who are affected are people whose children got hurt or killed in the shooting or relatives. They have to go through the same exact pain when they see other people's childs get hurt in the same situation. I believe that we  should Change gun laws because people are buying guns way too easily and using them to hurt people.
