SVA students have gone TOO LONG without a proper mascot! Rumours come and go that we have Squidley the squid as our patron saint but in actuality SVA has no official mascot! I say SHAME!!

This past week  it has surfaced that we had a turkey living in our facilities. A brave student saved Tutu from the hands of death and was going to incorporate them in a powerful project. Unfortunately Tutu was discovered and sent to a sanctuary upstate.

While a squid encompasses one ink based facet of our school it should noted there are several majors that are excluded by that choice of unofficial mascot.

Meanwhile Tutu the Turkey encompasses the SVA spirit like nothing else! Tutu and its saviour encompass our students’ dedication to their crafts, boundary breaking work and their push for a better world!

That is why on this November eve I say Tutu the Turkey should be crowned as the OFFICIAL mascot for the School of Visual Arts!
