The issue

I am a student currently studying Bachelor of Arts (Pathway into Secondary Teaching) majoring into Islamic Studies at Western Sydney University. I am at the back end of my undergraduate degree and have one semester left, and the University has told me that my major is not recognised as a Major for Secondary teaching, however according to the Board of Studies "Studies of Religion" is in their criteria which does apply to Islamic studies as a major. These changes have also impacted the Majors of "International Asian Studies and Japanese and Social and Cultural Analysis Majors" Which I am sure that students have had the disheartened meeting with their course advisors with already. Now the issue is that students who have enrolled in 2015, where the rules and changes were not officially in place should be allowed to finish their degree and apply the rules for the students who enrol in 2016 and onwards. This is mainly because this will affect my time I can not get back and money spending doing more units which I can not afford to do because I have three children under five and have been balancing a full time load of four units even with a newborn just so i can finish my degree! Thats pushing studying to its limits. I need the students of Universities to sign this petition as well as the community to make this happen for me because I believe this is very unfair and unnecessary stress being caused academically as i do not want to stay back doing more units and spending more time away from my little ones. Please help make a change in helping students finish their degrees in their desired fields of study and not be forced in making choices to change because the University does not feel it is not enough to be recognised. Thank you.
