There are about 950 students attending Princeton Senior High School. There are two lunches, which means we are divided into about 475 kids per lunch saying that they are split completely equal (they're not). On the event that the annex is closed one day, an extra 50 something kids will be dumped into the lunch room. Kids are forced to eat on the floor and the band hallway, this is a violation of health codes.
The national Food and Drug Administration states:
- "The FDA encourages its state, local, tribal, and territorial partners to adopt the latest version of the FDA Food Code. "
- "Reduce foodborne illness risk within food establishments, protecting consumers and industry from potentially devastating health consequences/financial losses;"
Students eating on the floor does not prevent illness risk. Students do not have the room to each have a seat at sanitized tables. On a more personal, state-wide note: West Virginia's Food Establishment Rule (64 CSR 17) adopts the FDA Model Food Code; which can be found at:
West Virginia Health Codes History
We have worked on a schedule with three lunches for years, it is a productive schedule. Bring it back.
GOAL: About half the school. I will talk to Mrs. Zickafoose about the turnout and request she makes the change.
