Dog collars have become highly popular at many schools including Randall Middle School. Apart from the true symbolism and distractions they pose in a learning environment, they may be interpreted as unprofessional and even rude to some. Although wearing Dog collars is expressing free speech, many people express themselves in many ways that are not accepted by the school. Dog collars also have been known to have bells which have distracting sounds and metal prongs which may be dangerous for both the person wearing the collar and fellow classmates and peers. Sadly, most people that wear Dog collars don't know that it has pornographic and sexually explicit meanings behind it that others do know. Dog collars also symbolize manual and sex slavery as its put on slaves to identify them and their owners. It also can be interpreted as being involved in 'BDSM'. These people that wear Dog collars are laughed at, mocked, and disrespected because of this ignorance.  We could put a stop to this if were to just ban them. If this petition earns enough support, we may be able to ban dog collars in school environments, if we lose, schools like Randall will continue to permit Dog collars on campus. We must work together to both support school leaders and students to take a stance on this.
