Changing the late policy at PK Yonge to accommodate to students

Changing the late policy at PK Yonge to accommodate to students
The Issue
P.K. Yonge late policy has been recently changed by P.K. Yonge faculty, and we need your help to change this. The new late policy states that if you're not in class by 8:00 am, you must be marked late. Another new late policy states that if you have 4 tardies to class, you have after school detention on Wednesdays. You might think this sounds harsh, and it is. P.K. is a K-12 school, and students cannot benefit from this new late policy. This late policy is a way to crack down on students being late to class, and though that is necessary, this is not the way to do it. A school should not give out detention for simply being a minute late to a class. There are other ways to do this, like the "grace period" that was the late policy before. Being marked late AFTER 8:05 has never been a problem, and it wasn't a grace period in prior years, it was just standard late policy. There's no reason that arriving at 8:02 or 8:03 should affect a student's academic grades, as they would only miss announcements. This new late policy will not benefit students. Some students have to drop off other siblings at different schools, or they have to walk to school (and no, waking up earlier would not solve all of these problems). If the late policy returned to the previous late period, there would be no problems. The new late policy has more cons than pros, so you can clearly see why many students have a problem with the new late policy.
