We, the undersigned are petitioning School District of Philadelphia SDP) Superintendent Dr. William Hite, the SDP Board of Education, and Mr. Douglas Compton, SDP Director of Routing and Scheduling Efficiency to withdrawal Mr. Compton’s decision to force our children to their bus stops much earlier this school year. Mr. Compton gave Global Leadership Academy very little notice before students return to school that SDP will change bussing schedules. Mr. Compton and the School District of Philadelphia’s decision to change bussing for charter school students place a tremendous unfair burden on:

• Families - Children are now assigned for bus pick up as early as 5:27 AM and many parents are unable to join them as they wait.
• School administrators - School leadership is unable to staff the early arrivals on such short notice. Many of our teachers are also parents who need to see their children off to school.
• Student health and safety -  During the ongoing pandemic as the children will need to be grouped in common areas rather than in their own classrooms where social distancing can be maintained.

Therefore, because the School District’s last minute and illegal transportation change will put our children in harm’s way as expressed in the items above, we, the parents of Global Academy Charter School West and Global Academy Charter School Southwest demand that the school district revokes the change and revert to the original schedule.
