Stop Marine Life Extinction

Stop Marine Life Extinction
The Issue
I am fighting for marine Animals and to stop their extinction. Fisheries are one of the main causes of extinction in the ocean, because of these fisheries 90% of each species of large fish has been killed off, but it's not just the big fish being killed other fish are harmed to. For every 4 pounds of fish caught 1 other pound of unneeded fish is also unintentionally caught and, in most cases, thrown away or not used, on top of that for every 1 pound of shrimp caught 4 or more other fish and animals are caught and simply discarded. Turtles are also endangered because of fisheries and the reason why is because when they are unintentionally caught, they either die in the nets, or are tossed off the side of the boats to die.
While fisheries do cause a major amount of extinction in the ocean, it's not the only cause. One other cause of extinction for marine animals is invasive species. The article marine life decline from Thank You Ocean shows that in 2005 of all the Endangered animals, 45% of them where caused by invasive species. Invasive species cause marine animal decline by steeling and changing the environment they need.
To stop these animals’ extinction, we must reduce the amount of plastic we use. Plastic floating in the ocean can be easily eaten by animals and marine life this causes over 10,000 of marine animals to be killed each year. Rising tempters are yet another reason that these animals are endangered, this also is because of people and pollution. One last way we can help to end the extinction of this marine life is to stop big fisheries from wasting so much fish and using everything that they catch. You would be surprised how much of this marine life is killed of each year because of reasons that we can change easily.
