No Paid Parking for Staff
The issue
Scentre group, the owners of Westfield Carousel have announced that as of July 2018 the center staff and customers will be charged for parking. Customers will be provided a free 3 hour parking time and charged after that 3 hours. The staff do not dispute this. However, staff will be charged a flat fee for parking. Retail staff are classified as low-income earners, the large majority of staff are concerned about the fees, as working a 5-7 day week for some can add to as much as $21 a week, $84 per month and $1008 per year (fees are an estimate per interstate shopping centers). As the staff who work inside the center, we want to change to the original proposal, put the staff that work at Westfield first.
