Implement changes in the carpark at Westfield Miranda to aid suicide prevention.

Mental Health is an issue that impacts all of society. 1 in 4 people will be impacted by mental illness in their life. It doesn't discriminate.

It saddens me to hear that another person has taken his or her own life at Westfield Miranda after jumping off the car park roof. This seems to happen quite a lot. I am in no way insinuating that the centre is responsible for this. However, surely there is a duty of care for your patrons in regards to implementing changes to prevent future suicides.

I would like to petition that some measures be taken to prevent this from happening in the future. Perhaps erecting a safety fence that curves inward and a sign with the numbers for lifeline, kids help line and beyond blue? There has to be something that can be done.

I feel that this happens all too often and perhaps access to this means is far too easy. Not only could these measures potentially save lives, it may also prevent subsequent trauma that is experienced by witnesses, more often than not school children.

Please sign this petition and help me make a change,
