Westfield Chatswood is undergoing a redevelopment in the food court on level 4. Stores between Tarocash and H&M have closed which is where McDonald's and Oporto were located before they closed. Parts of the food court have remained open including KFC and Subway, but next to KFC some outlets have closed with Oporto and Mumbai Express opening soon in that space.

McDonald's had been around for years there and many teenagers and young adults have been going there for years to get lunch or dinner or snacks. Many kids and teenagers go get McDonald's before they go to watch a movie at Hoyts cinema just 20 meters away from the food court. I have seen many young people especially teens complain about the closure of McDonald's and have to walk 100 meters away from the centre to go to the nearby McDonald's at Chatswood Interchange which means you have to walk outside in the rain and come back to get McDonald's. Nearby centres Macquarie, Westfield Warringah Mall, Westfield Parramatta, Westfield Bondi Junction and even Westfield Sydney have a McDonald's outlet. Chatswood currently is the only Westfield in New South Wales without one.

The only way to get McDonald's back at Westfield Chatswood is through demand and make it loud and clear that we want it back whether it's in the food court or as a restaurant in another area of the centre. Submitting reviews, contacting Scentre Group, McDonald's Corporation and also signing this petition will persuade them. When McDonald's is back it will increase the traffic inside the centre and attract more people to Hoyts.

I personally like both McDonald's for their burger range. My favourite burger in McDonald's is the Bacon Jam Angus. I also go to McDonald's before the movie to get a frozen Coke and some snacks with my younger brother. Since the closure, my younger brother complains that he doesn't want to go to Westfield Chatswood anymore and instead go and catch a train to nearby Macquarie Centre where it has a McDonald's.
