Oak Grove Lake Park needs SCDOT to approve a sound study- high noise after 85/385 project

The Issue

Above picture is truckloads of sediment that polluted Oak Grove Lake over 5 years!

When the successful SCDOT Gateway project started they completed a sound study. Also another completed one more during the project. Now the road is finished and they removed many trees and brush. So it’s much much louder for people that visit a beautiful county park/lake.

Oak Grove Lake Park is a beautiful park. The decibels at times are way over the limit of 6.7 near the highway end. People visiting this park and walking around the lake should continue to have their walk and visit to be serene and peaceful. But the project has impacted the SCDOTcan remedy the issue with a sound barrier. There are hundreds of homes and apartments impacted too.

Also DOT put truckloads of sediment in this lake. They agreed to remove some sediment in one area but the lake now doesn’t have any aquatic plants anywhere. It all died from muddy water. Plus a recent lake health study indicates the lake needs to be restocked with fish. Plus the area they disturbed to remove sediment in one small area also was impacted with shrubs, trees and plants being destroyed.

Please help.

Come visit the lake for a short walk and talk.
