SC Allocate Money Where It Is Needed

SC Allocate Money Where It Is Needed
The Issue
SC has 2950 tidal miles of coastline. Many miles of these tidal marshes are filled with washed away treated wood from old docks and utility poles, tires and abandoned commercial and recreational boats. Most of this debris is back behind the marsh grass and unseen. It has been reducing local seafood and shellfish stocks for years. Yet NO MONEY IS ALLOCATED to fix the proble,. All of the cleanup funding is directed to the 141 miles of tourist beaches and roadways to increase state tourism.
The tens of tons of arsenic, creosote, petroleum and fiberglass debris needs to be removed from these critical coastal areas.
Wounded Nature - Working Veterans has already removed over 100 abandoned boats, 46 dumpster loads of debris and numerous tires. We are out of funding sources and have asked SC DNR and DHEC to provide funding, yet no money is even being requested in next year's budget due to other priorities.
